Visit Muddy Boots in October
We really look forward to welcoming you so here’s everything you might need to plan your visit before you arrive, especially at this time of increased regulations.
Our outdoor play area is open now, currently indoors is closed. We are asking for you to pre-book as we are operating with decreased visitor numbers allowed.
We ask that all visitor to adhere to current guidelines, including not travelling from the 5 areas under travel restrictions. No one should be meeting in groups of more than 6 adults and 2 households.
Pre-booking your entry online at the weekend and during the school holidays is essential. During the week days we are much quieter and you should be able to pay on the door, however online booking is still recommended for peace of mind.
With limited cafe tables, we advise pre-booking a table by phone on 01337 831222.
The extra, body zorb activities are not running this year due to the current restrictions. Pig racing is finished for the winter months. We look forward to welcoming new piglets in the spring.
Membership pass holders and corporate pass holders do not currently need to pre-book as their numbers are already taken into consideration.
All adults and children over 5 yrs will need to bring a face mask with them. Entry to play is through The Coop reception and masks should be worn when using the toilet facilities.

Muddy Boots Location & Directions
By car: Muddy Boots is in Balmalcolm village, on the A914 between Glenrothes and Cupar. We are easily accessible from all areas of Fife, and quick to get to from Dundee, Kinross and Edinburgh.
By bus: We are on the X59 and X24 bus routes. The bus stop in Balmalcolm is a 2 minute walk to the farm.
By train: Our closest train station is Ladybank, a 30 minute walk from the farm or 6 minutes by taxi.
Muddy Boots Facilities
Disabled Access: All buildings are accessible to those with impaired mobility. Much of our play area is based on a hill, but should be suitable for many wheelchairs and also buggies. The Coop offers some viewing of part of the Muddy meadows outdoor play area.
Toilets: If you’ve got to spend a penny, it had better be an award winning loo – at least, we thought so. So we have designed the very best café toilets in Scotland for your visit, as awarded by The Loo of the Year awards 2012. Our toilet facilities include a large dual sided disabled access toilet, baby changing and a separate children’s toilet. The children’s toilet is such an attraction they sometimes don’t even want to leave! We hope you enjoy the facilities, it’s worth the wait. We have new facilities in The Coop to help you while at play.
Picnic Facilities: We want you to have a fab family day out – and a picnic is fun. We have picnic tables available in the outdoor play area. We’re afraid we don’t have any heated or indoor space for picnics, and don’t allow picnics in our café or in The Coop. We do sell takeaway hot and chilled drinks, crisps, cheeses, pates and bread in the farm shop, to supplement any picnic and have a takeaway kiosk in The Coop with hot drinks and cold drinks, ice-cream and kids lunch boxes.
Local Weather: We are nestled in the Howe of Fife and are often very fortunate with the weather at Muddy Boots because we are sheltered by the Lomond Hills. Check the weather here before planning your day – or give us a call and find out what’s happening here now.
Dogs: Well behaved dogs on leads are allowed in the play areas, shop and cafe. We ask that you respect other park users and clean up. We reserve the right to ask you to remove your dog if it is upsetting other customers. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
We have our own friendly golden lab, Berry. You may well spot her sunbathing in front of the shop or riding in the farm gator. Our new addition, Jura a golden cocker spaniel, may be found dashing about.
